Description
This course looks at the recent research with IDT collaborative models in Rehabilitation describing the benefits of this increasingly accepted model for patient care, providing case examples involving payment, policy and documentation. In addition, this course helps the PT understand the OT and ST scope of practice along with appropriate collaboration and referral to these professionals.
Jon Anderson, MSPT, PT
Mr. Anderson has worked in multiple settings including, in-patient, out-patient, SNF/LTC, and home health. Mr. Anderson is an expert in federal/state policy/guidelines and is the SNF Lead for the TPTA Payment and Policy committee. In addition, Mr. Anderson has served as a rehab director across multiple settings, a resource/consultant for rehab programming, therapy financials, appeals management, and new therapy startups. Mr. Anderson is currently the co-chair of the TPTA Practice Committee, and is a member of the Tom Waugh Leadership Program.

Objectives:
- Participants will be able to define Interdisciplinary collaboration and describe the strengths of this modeled partnership.
- Participants will be able to give examples of current IDT collaboration models along with understanding of appropriate clinical reasoning and payment for these models.
- Participants will be able to understand what an OT, PT, and ST scope of practice encompasses along with examples of appropriate referral methods.
- Participants will use case studies to understand how an IDT collaborative rehabilitation model might be utilized.
- Participants will understand how IDT collaborative model initiatives are currently being demonstrated at state and federal regulatory agencies.
Speakers:
Jon Anderson, MSPT, PTKim Pettijohn, OTD, OTR Kim Pettijohn is an Occupational Therapist with 18+ years of experience as a therapy leader providing education, training, and support to multiple disciplines in Post-Acute care. Currently, Kim serves as a Therapy Resource for Ensign Services and recently received a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy last year. Kim holds specialty certifications in RAC, Physical Agent Modalities, Vital Stim, and Ventilator Proficiencies.
Tamala Sammons, M.A. CCC-SLP Ms. Sammons has 20 years as a clinical practitioner with emphasis in geriatric rehabilitation. She has worked as a clinician, multi-discipline manager of rehabilitation departments, and a consultant for rehabilitation programming, regulations and standards. She has managed multi-facility programs & helped build in-house rehab programs from start-up. She has extensive knowledge of clinical practice standards, state & federal regulations, and documentation requirements for third-party payers. She has written and presented numerous training programs in the field of Speech-Language Pathology and rehabilitation programming.
